Brick Trowel

A brick trowel is used by a builder when laying bricks. There are 2 shapes of brick trowel - London and Philadelphia. The London pattern has rounded edges at the heel, while the Philadelphia pattened brick trowel has sharp edges.

Brick trowels come in many different sizes, and are weighted differently. A builder will try out different brick trowels before deciding on a one they prefer. The balance of the brick trowel is particularly important which is why each builder will have his own preference.

Bricklaying Trowel

There is school of thought that a bricklaying trowel should not be used to cut bricks. However, most builders don't want to waste time having to change tools from their bricklaying trowel and so it's become a common practice.
